School isn't all about studying!
For such a formative time in people's lives, the college experience is rarely depicted in film and television. While one of the few shows set amidst higher education — The Sex Lives of College Girls — is losing one of its great queer characters, an upcoming series centers a group starving for representation: Black queer college students.
H.I.M., set to be released digitally on August 8 from Breaking Glass Pictures, is the story of Damien (Brandon Karson) and his cousin Kendall (Rahim Brazil) as they navigate love and learning. "After experiencing his first encounter with heartbreak, Damien dives into the chaotic world of college life," according to the film's press notes. "Damien stumbles around campus like the other lost freshmen doing his best to keep his eyes glued to his books and off of shirtless jocks, frat-boys, and handsome intellectuals. But Damien's level of discipline may prove to be no match for the ways of a manipulative college senior who threatens to establish a degrading reputation for the freshmen."
H.I.M. is directed and produced by Anthony Bawn, known for the series Conframa and the film Velvet Jesus. Tyson Anthony wrote the scripts for H.I.M. The series also stars Mimi Fletcher, Desmond Fletcher, Robert Sherrill Jr., and Darren Johnson. Watch the age-restricted trailer below.
