Here's When Netflix's Highly-Anticipated Gay Movie Nimona Comes Out

This looks like one of the best animated movies ever!

Our favorite shapeshifter is coming to our screens this summer!

After months of excitement and hype since the streamer acquired the movie, Netflix has announced the release window for the highly-anticipated queer animated film Nimona.

While we don’t know the exact date yet, Netflix has now announced that the movie will be released on the platform in June. We can’t wait! It’s perfect for Pride Month!

Nimona, based on a graphic novel of the same name by She-Ra and the Princesses of Power creator ND Stevenson, follows the adventures of the titular shapeshifting girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) as she signs up to the be sidekick to reluctant supervillain Ballister Blackheart (Riz Ahmed).

At first Ballister doesn’t want her around, but soon he realizes that she could help him clear his name after he’s labeled a villain and enemy of the state.

The official synopsis reads: “A Knight is framed for a crime he didn't commit and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona, a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he's sworn to kill. Set in a techno-medieval world unlike anything animation has tackled before, this is a story about the labels we assign to people and the shapeshifter who refuses to be defined by anyone.”

Nimona also stars Eugene Lee Yang, Frances Conroy, Lorraine Toussaint, RuPaul Charles, Indya Moore, Beck Bennet, Julio Torres, and Sarah Sherman.

Nimona is set to release on Netflix this June.
